Backup administrators have successfully deployed Data Domain deduplication storage systems for backup and disaster recovery for many years. Together, Data Domain and Symantec now provide an option for enhanced integration between the backup application and target storage systems.Supported with NetBackup 6.5 and higher, Data Domain OpenStorage Software provides API-based integration between Data Domain storage systems and NetBackup. This gives NetBackup administrators tremendous visibility into the properties and capabilities of the Data Domain storage systems, as well as optimized performance. In particular, NetBackup can now manage the WAN-efficient replication process on the Data Domain systems, enabling significantly enhanced disk-based data protection and disaster recovery strategies. |
